'Midnight Sun' still sits on the shelf (what's new?)

We've known since August. Stephenie Meyer is upset about the leaked Midnight Sun manuscripts and won't be writing up a conclusion to that cliffhanger in PDF. Any Twilight watcher worth her/his bite should have read Stephenie's statement on her site, and read the partial novel she posted there as well.

So why is this news all of a sudden? The story is now all over the Internet. Google Twilight news and you get headlines saying the same thing--that Stephenie is still upset and hasn't changed her mind. Is this even newsworthy? Is the fact that Brangelina or Tomkat are still together something to fuss about? If Stephenie snaps out of whatever it is she's going through and decides to finish Midnight Sun, then that would be newsworthy.

On the other hand, if this is someone's idea of a publicity stunt for Mindnight Sun, then maybe there's hope that it would see print after all. Perhaps someone thought that reiterating that Midnight Sun is truly dead would actually ressurect the fans' anticipation and result in $$$ when it does see daylight! Yeah, that's a possibility. But I'm not holding my breath.
