IMDb is an interesting neighborhood. You often don't know what interesting jewels you would stumble upon. And this morning I saw Twilight's user stats, and predictably, Catherine Hardwicke's handiwork rated well among females, particularly those under 18. Average rating from female users is 7.5 and 5.4 from male users. The discrepancy is so telling!
Here are highlights of the demographic breakdown (highest rating is 10):
Females under 18 - 8.1
Females Aged 18-29 - 7.4
Females Aged 30-44 - 7.2
Females Aged 45+ - 6.9
Males under 18 - 5.5
Males Aged 18-29 - 5.3
Males Aged 30-44 - 5.5
Males Aged 45+ - 5.6
Interestingly, while the lowest rating from the female group, 6.9, came from those aged 45+, the highest rating from the male group, 5.6, came from those aged 45+. Could this be saying that as we girls age, we become less prone to being carried away by teenage romantic stories? And as guys age, they become more forgiving of the cheese?
